Real-time Dictation and Workflow Management

CWAS: the only IP-based dictation and transcription gateway available in the marketplace

All Crescendo user applications designated with the IP title operate through the Crescendo Wide Area Service (CWAS) server, a secure gateway to the centralized system that ensures secure data access and allows for real-time dictation and workflow management.

Speed

File copying for data transfer purposes is still common, although it involves productivity barriers such as bandwidth bottlenecks, file duplication, the risk of offline data becoming outdated as well as related errors, all of which slow down the transcription process. But in today's healthcare and legal environments, speed is everything.

Based on voice streaming technology and designed to automatically determine the fastest method for sending files to the central system, CWAS eliminates bandwidth-intensive methods for voice file transfer purposes such as FTP, e-mail or file copying. Dictations, whether completed in the office or on the go, are immediately made available for transcription.

Confidentiality

With CWAS, all client/patient information is stored on the main server, as well as Facility, Department, document type and templates. This means that only the required information needs to be transferred to the Transcriptionist. No file is ever stored on the local PC, preserving voice file integrity and ensuring an optimal level of security that complies with the strictest of confidentiality standards some industries are subject to (ie: HIPAA/PIPEDA in the medical sector). The service also recognizes whether a template that the Transcriptionist is working on is new and will download it upon connection.

Last but not least, CWAS updates data on each connection and has been designed to easily adapt to current industry standard security technologies, including virtual private networks, firewall security and encryption algorithms.

This ultimate level of security explains why more and more dictation-intensive environments turn to Crescendo IP-based solutions when it comes to sharing sensitive data among individuals, Departments and cross-regional locations.

Optimal productivity even on the lowest bandwidth

Finally, CWAS only requires only 33.3 Kbps per voice or data channel. In other words, if a remote Transcriptionist wants to receive and send back dictations and reports, a dedicated connection of 66.6 Kbps is needed. By comparison, a GPRS connection can transfer up to 171 Kbps. Why is it the case when so many other systems require high bandwidth?

As for the IP to IP connection, it can be established through:

  • LAN
  • WAN
  • Internet
  • Intranet
  • RAS

What our Customers say...
  • "Crescendo was the only vendor who offered IP-based workflow management...this was another critical factor in our decision, given the deadline-driven, highly confidential nature of our data." Tolan Collins, IT Manager, Hewitsons Solicitors.

  • "Our secret lies, among other elements, in the Crescendo Wide Area Service, which we rely upon for all urgent work and remote transcription. This unique IP-based gateway allows both our Indian and home-based staff to play voice in real-time prior to complete file download, just as if they were located in the US-based office."
