Crescendo PACS Dictation
A must for Radiology
During the past several years, Crescendo has successfully integrated its DigiDictate-IP application with key PACS systems such as McKesson, Siemens, Fuji and GE, allowing healthcare facilities to accelerate the delivery of Radiology reports to the point of care while dramatically improving Radiologist productivity.
Seamless information exchange
Thanks to a HL7 bidirectional interface between DigiDictate-IP and your PACS, all information can be exchanged electronically (X-Ray, Voice, and Patient Report/data), contributing to increased efficiency and reliability of data. Completed results are then seamlessly uploaded from the dictation database to the PACS or RIS where they will be centrally stored.
From a user perspective, integrated PACS dictation eliminates both duplication of efforts, manual data entry and related errors. Radiologists can begin their dictation immediately without the need to log on twice or manually enter details such as bar codes. Patient information is automatically passed on each time a new image is brought to the screen thereby ensuring optimal data integrity.
Integrated workflow
By concentrating all application commands on the PACS, the integrated dictation workflow saves Radiologists significant time while greatly easing the stress and improving reading quality.
- To start a dictation, the Radiologist presses Record and simply closes the image to end the dictation
- To edit a dictation they select the appropriate image and dictate the required changes
- DigiDictate-IP is started and ended automatically by logging on and off the PACS
All dictation controls can be accessed using the SpeechMike with an integrated mouse - and optional bar code reader. Any of the user actions, such as the creation of a dictation, bar code reading, recording, locating and editing existing dictations and completing dictation, can be performed according to the Author's preference:
- Within the PACS application usingthe SpeechMike
- Through the Crescendo DigiDictate-IP application running in the background

- Concentration of all commands and critical information in PACS
- Support of Siemens, McKesson, Fuji, GE systems and more
- Real-time HL7 bidirectional interface to most popular RIS
- In 2001, a bidirectional interface was established between the Crescendo dictation system and Fuji Synapse PAC's at the Sainte-Justine Hospital in Montreal, enabling the exchange of messages, statuses and other vital information between both entities. Physicians were thereby able to dictate from the Synapse worklist directly, without having to run the Crescendo application separately. "Thanks to the intelligent synergy between Crescendo, Radimage and Fuji, we were able to reduce the Radiology examination process from 24 hours to just a few minutes while enabling all relevant professional caregivers to access the image simultaneously."
