Crescendo integrates speech recognition software SpeechMagic to enhance documentation efficiency in North American hospitals
LAVAL, Quebec - Aug 3, 2004 - Crescendo today announced that it will deliver a turnkey dictation solution to hospitals in Canada and the United States that automatically converts dictated voice files into written text. The solution, named Crescendo Speech Processing, is based on the Philips speech recognition software SpeechMagicTM. It is designed to integrate directly within existing medical IT infrastructures, allowing Crescendo customers to easily upgrade their digital dictations systems to speech recognition, which represents a critical step towards the creation of the electronic patient record.
From a management perspective, the combined use of digital dictation and speech recognition technology will enable the faster and more cost-effective creation of medical reports. Seamlessly integrated within an existing dictation and transcription workflow, Crescendo Speech Processing allows hospitals to significantly reduce the turnaround time of getting physicians' dictation into a paper or electronic format. At the end of the day, major productivity improvements and cost savings can be achieved on the transcription side while physicians are ensured a truly consistent dictation experience.
"SpeechMagic is a leader in medical speech recognition. With thousands of installations worldwide and a wealth of features developed exclusively for professional users, the program was clearly our first choice to bring significant efficiency gains and cost-savings to our customers." said Costa Mandilaras, President, Crescendo Systems Corporation. "We are excited about delivering this breed of solutions to hospitals in North America."
