- Entire product suite for professional document creation capable of running with Citrix®
- Mobile access to dictation application via Internet
- Central file storage raises security levels and eases administration
Laval, Canada, 1 February 2006 - Crescendo Systems Corporation, a provider of digital dictation, speech recognition and transcription systems for the medical and legal sectors, announces that its entire product suite is now capable of running in Citrix® - Access environments. Deploying digital dictation and speech recognition applications from the Citrix® server leads to higher security and more efficient system administration. Rather than being stored on the local PC, dictation files are securely streamed to the central application. Users can even access their Citrix®-based dictation solution through the Internet, increasing their productivity and data security while on the move. Crescendo is the first company to offer Citrix® customers a comprehensive document creation solution powered by the Philips speech recognition technology SpeechMagicTM.
"Citrix infrastructures allow for the deployment of software applications from a central server, making them particularly attractive to organizations in the legal and medical industry. They reduce the need for cost-intensive, powerful workstations, saving financial resources and increasing data security, as all files are stored in the central system," explains Costa Mandilaras, President, Crescendo Systems Corporation. "Crescendo now provides the first dictation and speech recognition workflow application that brings state-of-the-art speech recognition to Citrix users in the medical and legal field, leading to high efficiency and productivity gains in these documentation intensive industries."
Citrix® users can now record dictation seamlessly using modern dictation devices. Dictation files are streamed directly to the server, where they are converted to text by the speech recognition engine. Depending on a user's preferred workflow, the recognized text is returned to the workstation in real-time, allowing the Author to edit and sign it off. Alternatively, the text can be accessed by a Transcriptionist for editing and finalization.
Crescendo applications on the Citrix server can either be started from the workstation as a desktop application or through a web browser - a practical feature when traveling. Remote employees can also access the digital dictation and speech recognition system from outside the office. Since no application files are stored on the client machine, IT administrators can easily manage the system on the central server without having to involve the end user.
The Crescendo product suite supports the Citrix Presentation ServerTM 3.0 and higher and thin client terminals such as Wyse Windows Terminals. Delays during dictation playback and the operation of dictation hardware caused by data having to be transferred from the client to the server are eliminated, thereby ensuring efficient transcription and correction.
The Crescendo digital dictation and speech recognition product suite for Citrix will be presented live to users in the legal sector at the Legal IT show in London, UK (February 8-9, 2006; Booth # 61) and LegalTech New York (January 31-February 2, 2006; Booth # 436). Healthcare audiences will also be able to attend demonstrations at the HIMSS conference in San Diego, CA, US (February 12-16, 2006; Booth # 6124).
