A Crescendo Q & A - Courtside Surgery

Courtside Surgery in Yate, Bristol, has successfully implemented Crescendo’s Digital Dictation solutions to increase office efficiency and staff morale. Anne Crowe, the IM&T Manager, has taken the time to share her practice’s experiences with their new practice system.

• Why did you choose Crescendo for your digital dictation needs?

We looked at several digital dictation suppliers and what impressed us about Crescendo was their willingness to listen to our needs and configure the product to suit our requirements. We also felt that the system was visually clear and easy to use.

• What has digital dictation done for your practice?

The main advantage has been for the Secretaries who can now easily track referral letters. From a management perspective, quantifying the actual outstanding workload (rather than estimating it from the number of tapes) has enabled us to deploy staff more effectively and reduce our backlog.
 

• How do your users feel about the new system?

The transition from tapes to digital was a smooth one and all the clinicians now use the digital dictation exclusively, even those who were resistant initially. The secretaries have commented on the improved sound quality and find the system easy to use. They particularly like the visual record of outstanding work, and the display of the length of each dictation allows them to manage their time more effectively. They also like the ability to retrieve completed work. Before, once a tape was returned to the pool it was impossible to identify a particular dictation, now they can go back to any completed transcription if they need to.

• How you feel the support and services have been?

We have been impressed by the level of support we have experienced. Calls are answered promptly and the training has been excellent. The telephone training technique, which was provided to groups of users, was new to us and we were surprised at how successful it was. We find all the Crescendo support staff responsive and approachable and that our relationship with the company is one of mutual benefit.

• What extra benefits has the Integration with Synergy has given you?

The integration has provided us with an extra level of security to ensure that the document is attached to the correct patient’s notes especially in the case of patients with similar names. The Secretaries in particular have benefited as it cuts down on their keystrokes and is therefore more time efficient.

• Would you recommend Crescendo to other practices?

Most certainly!!
