Essex law firm completes its digital dictation move with Crescendo
Following a successful pilot system in the Company Commercial department at Wollastons Solicitors based in Chelmsford, Essex, the firm has now successfully rolled out the DigiScribe-XL Digital Dictation Dystem (DDS) from Crescendo to all fee-earning and secretarial staff across the office totalling 79 users with the system dealing with an average of 200 dictations per day.

"The trial was a success, with the users adapting to the new system with minimal training. Although there were minor changes to the way they work, the benefits of such a system soon became apparent and we don't think they would even consider reverting to the old tape system again.
"The real benefits are on the secretarial side, where the work has been evened out by a steady flow of work listed by priority, length and type of work. The secretaries also find it easier to help one another if they have some capacity as they can see all the jobs waiting within their department, which cuts the time taken for work to be returned to the fee earners.
"An additional benefit has been for out of office users who are able to dictate either directly into the system via remote access, or e-mail dictations from handheld devices into the system.
"In addition, the support and management supplied by Crescendo during the trial system made the implementation of a digital system easy and painless for everyone. The design of the DigiScribe-XL system made it very easy for us to expand the system and install the additional users ourselves with minimal intervention from Crescendo.
"We looked at all the major vendors during our DDS selection process, but it was Crescendo that offered a more advanced system from a functionality and technical point of view. "
