Yorkshire law firm rolls out DigiScribe-XL across its two offices
Following a successful trial of the Crescendo digital dictation system, Yorkshire law firm Rollits have now completed a rollout of the system throughout the whole firm at both their Hull & York offices.
Currently the firm has 64 fee earners using the Crescendo digital dictation system with 29 support staff able to transcribe the dictation. Fee earners have reported that they like the ability to submit jobs for typing as soon as they have been dictated, monitor work, prioritise where necessary and have the ability to redirect jobs if required. Secretaries have benefited from the improvement in clarity of the dictation, the ability to see what jobs are on the system, receiving jobs one at a time instead of a full tape and accessing jobs in other departments/offices when necessary. All this helps to improve the efficiency and time scales for documents being returned to the fee earners.
The firm also has a number of Olympus handheld devices available as a resource for users working away from the office. Laptop users have the ability to dictate whilst away from the network and the system automatically transfers the jobs when they return to the office, or connect via remote access.
Mike Wasling, Director of IT:
"After initial training from Crescendo, the rollout was carried out by the firm's internal IT department, on a department-by-department basis. All users were trained on the system and training took little more than an hour to complete. From a management point of view, all jobs can be centrally monitored and redirected via the system console if necessary. The console's reporting facilities also provide various methods of analysing the dictations carried out. For the first time we can proactively manage secretarial workloads to prevent bottlenecks from occurring."
Richard Field, Rollits IT Partner:
"Throughout the implementation, training and rollout, Crescendo have [sic] provided Rollits with excellent levels of support, and continues to be extremely responsive to requests and suggestions relating to the system. When first selecting a digital dictation system we were impressed by the range of features and equipment supported by the Crescendo system and look forward to some of their recently announced developments relating to Windows authentication, voice recognition and thin client technology."
