Security

Ensuring maximum protection of your confidential data

The Crescendo solutions take advantage of the latest database and connectivity technologies to build a secure, real-time platform that allows users (ex. secretaries/transcriptionists, physicians, attorneys, fee earners, customers, etc.) to perform their work from almost anywhere in the world.

Crescendo Wide Area Service

All Crescendo user applications designated with the IP title operate through the Crescendo Wide Area Service (CWAS) server, a secure gateway to the centralized system that ensures data access in real-time. CWAS eliminates file duplication as all files are kept in the central data repository: an optimal level of security that other vendors' FTP / file-copy approaches will, in essence, always fail to deliver.

Last but not least, CWAS updates data on each connection and has been designed to easily adapt to current industry standard security technologies, including virtual private networks, firewall security and encryption algorithms.

Hashed password protection

A hash function is applied to all passwords in the Crescendo database, ensuring that no unauthorized users will gain access to any Crescendo applications. (A hash is a mathematical function that maps values from a large domain into a smaller range.)

File checksum

Document checksum is applied by Crescendo at multiple levels including transcription, electronic signature and upload in order to ensure that documents are protected when opened, imported, or exported.
(A checksum is a count of the number of bits in a transmission unit that ensures integrity is maintained.)

Encryption

Crescendo now uses the Microsoft 40 bit encryption which is unique by Report Type and recipient. This will ensure, for instance, that a report e-mailed to the wrong recipient will not be comprehensible. Another example could be a service sending the wrong report to a client. Again the report could not be opened without the appropriate key.

Audit reporting

A new audit report dealing exclusively with history is available. The report search criteria are configurable by Subject ID/name, or where the user is the one that performed the access. The first option will list all the history (accesses made) for a particular report. The second option will list the job records accessed by a particular user.
