Crescendo Case Study: Dr. Hillier & Partners

Dr Hillier & Partners, serving over 18,200 patients in Northampton & Milton Keynes, is the latest multi-branch GP practice to adopt Crescendo’s Digital Dictation & Referral Management solutions. Park Slope Surgery (Main IT Hub), Roade Surgery & Grange Park Surgery in Northampton, plus Hanslope Surgery in Milton Keynes are all part of the new centralised digital system, which allows doctors to dictate from any location whilst keeping complete track of their work in progress. Although transcription of the referrals usually takes place at the surgery where the patient has been seen by the doctor, the multi-branch, real-time voice-on-demand solution, allows dictations to be pooled and shared between typing resources across any of the 4 surgeries in case of backlogs due to, holiday, sickness or general busy periods.

James Buggy, the Practice Manager for the four surgeries explains. “We needed a system which would allow us to see all outstanding work at each of the surgeries and share workloads where necessary. However I was aware of the impact digital voice files would have on our network and needed to be careful which product we chose to work with. The Crescendo workflow system is quite amazing really, it records directly to the main server at Park Slope in real-time, but has negligible impact on our network speed. Even If the branch network was to go down, everything which has been recorded so far is safe on the server and the doctors can continue to work off-line until the network comes back up.”

“From a management point of view, I can see exactly what referrals are outstanding at each surgery, without the need for telephone calls or visits. When there is overload at any of the surgeries, as a result of holidays/ sickness or simply increased work, instead of traditionally having to physically move secretarial resource to the overloaded surgery, we can now move the work to where the required resource is available. I am confident that running the monthly reports based on turnaround times and referral patterns, will greatly help me with the PCT reporting I have to regularly do.” James Concludes.
